Airtime transfer (Share ‘N’ Sell) is an MTN service to sends credit from your MTN account to other MTN customers’ accounts. With Share ‘N’ Sell you can keep your family and friends up and connected.
To make sure that nobody uses your phone to transfer credit without your permission, MTN has added a pin feature.
Before you can transfer credit, you have to change your PIN. MTN Share and Sell also have minimum and maximum amounts for each transaction.
You have to change the default pin which is 0000.
If you choose to use the harmonized code to transfer airtime on MTN is will work perfectly on both MTN and other mobile networks. You can also use the reserver MTN code for MTN Share ‘N’ Sell.
Dial *321*1# from your MTN line, then follow the instructions onscreen.
Options are as follows:
- Transfer Airtime
- Request Airtime from a friend
- Change PIN
- Forget PIN
- Create PIN
- Help
With Share and Sell you can transfer different amounts of credit, from a minimum quantity of NGN 50.00 to a maximum amount of NGN5,000.00 on each transaction.
You can also transfer up to a total amount of NGN10,000.00 every day! So you can choose to become a credit vendor using Share ‘N’ Sell.
USSD Code Method
This method is my favourite. You don’t have to wait for any confirmation, once the code is dialed, the transfer will be done immediately.
All needed to be done is to dial *321* Receivers Number* Amount* Your PIN#
OK, let’s say you want to transfer 500 Naira to 0803333XXXX – Simply dial *321*0803333XXXX*500*PIN#
After sending the code, you will receive an SMS telling you that the transfer has been completed.
MTN Airtime Transfer Charges
MTN charges a small amount as service fees for all transfers within their network.
- 50 – 100 Naira Airtime – 3 Naira transaction fee
- 101 – 500 Naira Airtime – 5 Naira transaction fee
- 501 – 5000 Naira Airtime – 10 Naira transaction fee
How to Change Your MTN Transfer PIN
- You can change your PIN any time of your choice by sending an SMS with Default PIN <space> New PIN <space> New PIN sends to 321. For instance, send an SMS with ‘0000 1234 1234’ to 321.
- Another method of changing your PIN is by dialing *321*default PIN*New PIN* New PIN# on your MTN phone and send the USSD code. For instance, dial *321*0000*1234*1234# and send the code.
- Immediately after changing the PIN, you will receive an SMS telling you that your transfer pin has been changed successfully.
Alternatively,
- Dial *321#
- Select Airtime Share
- Select Change PIN
- Enter your old PIN (if you have yet to create an old PIN, your default PIN will be 0000)
- Enter your chosen new PIN and press ok.
Please note that:
- You can only transfer credit in Naira amounts and not in kobo i.e. you can transfer NGN71.00 but not NGN71.99.
- If your MTN prepaid account does not have enough credit to cover the amount you have requested to transfer, the transaction will not be completed and you will receive an error message.
- If you are a postpaid customer you will only be able to transfer credit when your account is positive. You will not be able to transfer credit when your account is negative (-). For example, if your account balance is N-300.00. You will not be able to use Share ‘N’ Sell. On the other hand, if your account balance is N1, 000.00 you will be able to transfer credit up to the available N1000.00 in your account.
