The information in this article explains seven easy self-maintenance for your computer.
All computers require regular maintenance to keep them running, secured, and efficient.
Good computers are pretty expensive, and if you don’t maintain them they will go bad and may require a fortune to fix them.
Just like the popular saying, “Prevention is better than cure”. You should not misuse your computer, because you have the resources to fix it.
Hope you know that every repair you make on a PC, gradually reduces its value, especially the desktop computers.
Desktop computers come with more peripherals that need regular maintenance, and laptops are vulnerable to issues caused by almost anything from dust to accidents.
Whether you use your computer primarily for work or for leisure, it’s still money being invested into a resource.
To avoid your computer from having issues, you must perform regular maintenance to keep both your computer software and hardware active, safe, and secure.

Easy Ways To Maintain Computer
FOR HARDWARE
1. Always Dust And Clean CPU & Keyboard
I must bring to your knowledge that electricity makes your computers a magnet for dust and dirt.
This may sound funny, but that is the truth, you can look at the back of your television at home, if you don’t always do routine cleaning.
Thorough dusting and cleaning should be done regularly on your desktop PC and even on your laptops, you will find dirt around the keyboards, clean that too. Dirt is the remote cause of most computer hardware issues.
It is from the dirt it always escalates to other arising problems.
2. Clean your monitor
Just as explained above, you should also clean your monitor on a regular basis. Especially the screen with a dry towel or you can as well get a screen guard for your monitor screen, and this also applies to laptop users.
Note: do not clean your monitor with water or any liquid not meant for screens. To be on the safe side, always use a dry towel.
3. Organize your cords
Anytime you add a PC peripheral you end up connecting more cables.
Thank God for Bluetooth which has now enabled us to connect some devices wirelessly.
Even if you decide to go for wireless equipment like Bluetooth, you’ll still need to connect power supplies.
Scanner, printer, speakers, camera, microphone, and so on, have a cord, so you can imagine the number of wires if all these external devices are connected to your PC.
That meant you would definitely have a vast pile of cords behind your computer, and it would look pretty ugly, restrictive, and dangerous too.
One has to separate cords carefully, remove those cords not in use, and if possible group the cables.
FOR SOFTWARE
4. Always Perform Scan To Detect Virus
One of the best ways to take care of your PC is to run virus detection software regularly.
For those using the Microsoft “Windows 10” operating system, without installing an antivirus program, you can activate your “Windows Defender.”
I observed that Windows Defender of Windows 10 is more active than the freest and premium antivirus.
If you can’t afford to buy an antivirus, you can also download trusted free ones online.

5. Uninstall any programs that you don’t use
This is for those who have installed so many unnecessary programs on their computers.
If you install any program intentionally or accidentally that is no longer in use, go to your control panel and uninstall it.
Or better, go to the control panel and see the list of all installed programs, select those programs that you no longer need, and uninstall them.
It is the actual cause why most computers are very slow to respond, especially the computers with low configurations.
6. Check for updates on all of your programs
After uninstalling, run an update of all installed applications, especially those you use frequently.
Updates will keep the app in its best state. Outdated versions of most applications don’t provide security support, this is why you should always keep all your apps up to date.
For Microsoft Windows users, you can also run a Windows Update, why not? Windows Update is free of charge remember.
7. Reinstall or upgrade your operating system
Reinstall your operating system occasionally, especially when a severe virus has been detected on many occasions or when the system starts misbehaving.
Doing this will help wipe all redundant files stored on your computer, and as well improve its efficiency.
It is also recommended that you regularly upgrade your operating system, to stay on the latest version and the best security.
Note, do this only if your PC specifications suit that of the newly released operating system.
Conclusion
If you never had annoying issues with your PC then you are just among the fortunate few.
Most computer users face various types of problems ranging from virus attacks to system freezing, system hanging to system crashing and overheating, and so on.
Especially for those who use their computer for work, you must not jeopardize it else; you may end up losing all your data.
