There are over a hundred bloggers who make over $20,000 Monthly from blogging, not to mention other services they also offer.

Individuals like Neil Patel of Neilpatel.com or Pat Flynn of SmartPassiveIncome.com have made a lot of income from blogging, and today they have employed people to work for them. It will be a nice idea to take a look at their blog.

Successful bloggers are just humans like you, and you too can make such an amount. All you need is to know the right things to do and dedicate your time to it.

What are the ways to make money from blogging? This is exactly the question going through your mind, right? Just relax as I expose them to you.

It is no longer news that blogging is a profitable business to make money from home if you dedicate your money, time, and effort.

But If you have seen anyone telling you that making money from a blog as a blogger will be very easy, don’t let me be the first blogger to break this bad news to you that it is not going to be fast and easy like they told you.

Why blogging, the passion or for the money?

Many bloggers created a blog with the aim of blogging for money but later on, they realized that it was not as easy as they thought it would be.

If you don’t have a passion for blogging, you can still set up a blog as an online business by investing in it, you can hire writers who will write quality content for you.

Believe me, you will earn much from it if you choose a profitable niche You can hire writers from Fiverr.

They will write outstanding and well-optimized articles for you. You can even hire those that will handle the graphics part for you on your blog.

How much do bloggers earn?

This is a funny question so to speak! but I will try not to answer it in a funny way.

Bloggers don’t get paid per post, you only get paid per post when you go deep into affiliate marketing which I will explain in detail as you read on.

You can also get paid per post when you start getting “sponsored posts”

Some bloggers earn millions of dollars per month with just a single blog.

An average blogger earns about 1500 thousand dollars monthly.

Do bloggers get paid with the number of page views?

I once witnessed a scene where two aspiring bloggers were arguing over how Nigerian bloggers make money from their blogs.

One of them was trying to tell the other that all bloggers are rich and they make their money from the number of visits they get i.e.

If they have 1000 pageviews they will make $1000 — the other guy was surprised and can’t wait to start his own blog and start making money blogging.

I moved closer to them as a blogger to clear their doubt.

Am very sure by now reality must have dawned on them if they took the step by creating the blog because of their passion for money not blogging.

You can make money from page views but not the way you think it is, 1000 pageviews can hardly fetch you more than $5.

Am not saying you will make $5 with 1000 pageviews immediately 1000 pageviews start displaying on your site analytics without setting up anything, you need to sign up with some ad networks we will mention as time goes on.

Did I just scare you away from blogging with the Illustration I just made?

No, I did not! No business is without its own challenges and the same thing applies to blogging.

You have to work hard as a blogger and be patient enough for your time to come, you won’t regret blogging if you work hard.

Believe me or not, successful bloggers like Neil Patel, Linda Ikeji, Pete Cashmore all had a time when the money they made from their blogs couldn’t pay their bills.

Just see how wealthy they are now! They did not start by making millions in a month; they started exactly the way you are starting.

Also, all these eBooks on how to make $1000 from a blog, don’t take them for granted please as they are very essential.

What many don’t know about buying eBooks is that the publisher will surely want to impress you so that you can give him or her a five-star rating and most Importantly – for you not to regret buying the ebook, he will tell you everything he knows about the ebook topic.

I always advise bloggers to set a target when they want to start monetizing their blog “You can set a target that you want to start making more than $100 this month”, if you work towards it you will surely make it.

How much money can you make blogging?

The sky is no longer the limit, there are no limits to the amount of money you can make from your blog, I have seen bloggers making millions every month from affiliate marketing only.

How much does a beginner blogger make?

It all depends on your hard work and consistency, I have seen beginner bloggers making up to $200 per month on their blog that is not even up to a year old so what is stopping you from making more?

Requirements for making more than $5000 per month from your blog

Let us take a look at the requirements your blog must have before it can be considered ready for making enough money that pay your bills from your blog.

  • Your blog must be 6 months old: According to my research on why companies don’t place direct adverts or buy Ad space on new blogs, they said blogs that are less than 6 months old cannot be trusted and are considered new even though ADSENSE hardly approve blogs less than 6 months in some countries.
  • You must have a custom domain name like yourname.com or yourname.com.ng: Most companies don’t trust blogs with a sub-domain name like yourname.blogspot.com, their belief is that those blogs without a custom domain name were just created for fun and testing and they are not professional. They said they can’t be trusted which is true and that is why we recommend that you should buy a domain name. The largest AD-NETWORK AdSense won’t approve blogs with subdomains too so make your blog look professional by getting one.
  • You must have a reasonable amount of traffic: You can’t really make much from a blog generating less than 5000 page views per month. I noticed that 80% of blogs generating more than 5000 page views ( Google Analytics!) make nothing less than $50 per month.
  • Clean design and layout: The way you dress is the way you will be addressed so dress the way you want to be addressed. This adage is also applicable to a blog design, your blog design will depict the type of people that will advertise on your blog. If your blog design is quack then quack people will contact you for advert placement with nothing to pay. You don’t expect Nike to place an advert on a quack blog, do you?
  • Numerous Email Subscribers: This is not really necessary but as an affiliate marketer or a blog that accepts sponsored posts you need this! It will boost your sales by 50%. You can’t even register without this for some email subscribers.
  • You need a Thirsty affiliate link Cloaker to twist your affiliate links: Thirsty Affiliate plugin will help you cloak or twist your affiliate links by changing the name.
  • HTTPS Encryption: Even PayPal won’t accept a website without an SSL certificate to earn from their website. You need to get HTTPS from Let’s Encrypt for free even if you are not able to afford a Comodo SSL certificate. Websites without HTTPS are marked as not secure. Who will do business with a website that is not secure?
  • You need not put all your eggs in one basket: NOTE: Am not saying that without these requirements you cannot make money from your blog, you can but you will be restricted to some money-making platforms like AdSense, direct adverts, etc. on your blog.

How many blog posts must you have before you can make money on your blog?

The answer to this question is not straightforward, because there is no exact number of posts you must have before making money blogging.

According to my research, you must have at least 20-50 blog posts before you can be considered by some ad networks – no company will advertise on a blog with two 5 contents, that should solve it!

As a beginner blogger, you need at least 20 posts before you can start making money from your blog.

The more you post, the higher your chances of making more money from your blog.

Without wasting much of our time, let’s start with the list of how to make money from your blog as a beginner.

How to Make Money Blogging

1. Affiliate Marketing

On a forum last week somebody mentioned that Affiliate marketing is dead and buried.

Before I could reply, someone else posted a screenshot of over $2,742 earned promoting an affiliate product.

What is Affiliate Marketing?

Affiliate marketing is a marketing arrangement by which an online retailer pays a commission to an external website for traffic or sales generated from its referrals.

A practical example of Affiliate Marketing is if you go to one of our posts where we dropped a link and click on it. For instance, in a post, we wrote about the best web hosting company.

If you click on a link in it and buy a domain or host with it, we will get a commission.

I hope that is self-explanatory. If not, Let’s try again with a simpler theory of Affiliate Marketing.

As a blogger, you include links to a product or service offered by another company. If one of your visitors clicks on that link and purchases the goods or services, you will receive a percentage of the cost.

How to join an Affiliate Program?

To join an Affiliate Program is as simple as ABC, just look for any company that offers and register. Examples are ClickBank, Konga, Jumia, Amazon Associates, Linkshares, WhoGoHost, etc.

The simple rules to follow if you are considering joining the Affiliate Program are:

  • Only promote products relevant to your niche.
  • Only promote products you’ve personally used and recommend.
  • Include a disclaimer on your site so as to not mislead your readers.

2. Sponsored posts

A sponsored post is another strategy for making money from your blog but the only obstacle to this is that you must have gained a reasonable amount of audience before you will get sponsored posts on your blog.

What are sponsored posts?

Sponsored posts are articles that a blogger is paid to publish on his or her blog by companies, brands, and other blogs in which they pay you in return after you publish the article when a reasonable agreement is reached.

One outstanding asset of this money-making strategy is that readers don’t need to take any action on the post before you get paid, you will be paid after publishing the sponsored post no matter what happens later on.

The only issue many bloggers face with sponsored posts is that you can’t remove them on your blog for years based on the agreement.

For you to get sponsored posts on your blog, you must work on your traffic and popularity – so doing companies will locate you to write sponsored posts about them, you can decide to write the article by yourself at an extra fee or they write it themself.

Your next question should be how much should I charge for a sponsored post?

It depends on various factors like page views, the number of comments you get in a week, your blog age, Alexa rank, Domain authority, Page authority, etc.

If you are not sure exactly how much you want to charge, you can decide to play along by asking your clients how much they want to pay and negotiating the price.

The cons of the sponsored post are that there is no plugin that can do this for you exactly the way you want it.

You will have to combine several WordPress plugins together before you can achieve this or inform your clients to send it through the mail which is stressful and unprofessional.

3. Google Adsense

Most bloggers create or start a Blog having it in mind that they will monetize it with Google Adsense. For some, it was a success; for others, they were disappointed.

If your blog does not meet the Google AdSense requirements or standards, it will not get approved.

What is Google Adsense?

Google Adsense is a CPC (Cost Per Click) advertising program that allows blog/website owners to display relevant ads to their visitors and get paid.

If you are using the AdSense platform, you will have little or no stress as all your ads are managed on one platform.

All you have to do is to, pure the JavaScript code given to you into your website, and everything will automate itself.

Google Adsense is a Ad-network program run by Google that allows website owners (bloggers etc) known as publishers to serve automatic adverts in the form of texts, images, and videos placed by advertisers on their websites and earn commissions when any action is taken on those adverts.

They also pay for impressions on those adverts.

Google AdSense is just like a middle-man that connects publishers and Advertisers together.

They charge advertisers some amount and place adverts on several websites (their publishers) paying them when their visitors take action on these adverts (not necessarily taking actions, when they load their websites too they earn something)

Google AdSense is the best and the most popular way to make money from your blog.

According to research about 26% of blogs use AdSense and 40% of blogs are still applying for AdSense after getting disapproved several times. 10% once used AdSense and decided to opt out while 8% got banned by Adsense.

Many bloggers think Getting Adsense approval is very hard because AdSense does test blogging abilities like writing original content etc. but the approval is damn simple.

There are two ways to earn from Google Adsense, which are:

By Impressions: This depends on your page traffic or views. For example, for every 1,000 page views, you earn a little dollar.

Pay Per Click (PPC): This one regardless of traffic or page views. If a visitor clicks on the Ads from your site, you will earn a certain amount. This ranges from $0.01 to $5 depending on the Ads and the country.

4. Adsense alternatives like other ad networks

If you don’t get AdSense approval, there are AdSense alternatives I recommend that you choose that will really pay you a lot (even more than AdSense-like media).

I have already written an article on Google AdSense Alternative you can check it out here.

5. Selling advert space

You can also accept direct adverts or sell advert spaces on your blog.

This is the best and easiest way for any blogger to make money blogging because here advertisers reach you directly to place adverts on your blog.

You can also decide to sell the ad space at any price of your choice with no middleman involved here.

This type of advertisement is done on blogs with a lot of audiences, so If you have a small audience the chances of getting direct adverts are very slim.

An adage says “Nothing good comes easy”, This money-making strategy is a get-rich-quick scheme. But before you can even get an advertiser to sell advert space to you will have reached a certain blogging level!

No one will reach out to a blog getting low traffic to buy ad space from them except if luck happens.

Companies target blogs that get a minimum of 200,000 page views per month to place adverts not blogs getting 400 page views in a month.

In short words, only a few blogs make money by selling advert spaces so you will have to work on your traffic before you can even think of this monetizing method.

Your next question will be “How do I get advertisers to pay for direct adverts on my blog?”

As a beginner, you can reach out to them yourself. But before doing that, it is advisable you have good branding for your blog.

6. Selling digital products

Digital products are downloadable online products like ebooks, music, software, themes plugins, images, etc.

You can make money from your blog by selling these products to your readers.

Your next question should be how can I create a digital download store?

It is very if you blog on WordPress but if you blog on the blogger platform I don’t think there is any other way to do this than to create a page and tell followers to reach out to you to get the eBooks.

For WordPress users, I recommend using Woocommerce or the Easy Digital Download plugin

You can read these guides on setting up eBook download on your WordPress blog

Before you start selling digital products, you must ensure that they are well-composed and original, they should solve readers’ difficulties and they should be cheap.

Without these characteristics, readers won’t come back for more.

7. Email Marketing

Email Marketing can generate a very good amount of money. The goal is to build a large email list of your customers/visitors. When people register/subscribe to your weekly newsletter, you get their email addresses.

With an email list, you can build a brand, recommend products, or advertise any events/workshops that you may be holding and, more importantly, encourage people to keep returning to your website.

You can choose to sell your email list to marketers if you focus on a niche blog, but that’s not a good practice.

Email marketing is not a direct way of making money with a blog, but it is a very powerful way to increase your income using other methods.

8. Product Review

Product review works the same way as Affiliate marketing, but in Product review, you can choose to review and write about a company’s product on your blog or website and make money from it.

You can choose to write detailed reviews about products and services and then publish them on your blog.

Clearly, it is better to review products that are related to your website, as you have created the target audience.

They are individuals who build blogs or websites specifically for product reviews, and they earn a good amount of money.

9. Create your Product and Sell

We are now in a global village. If you have a product or an idea, you can create such and sell it to customers all over the world without paying for the store.

The advantage of selling a product online is that you have the world to sell to, unlike the shop that customers are limited to.

These are ways that you can make money blogging. If you know any way or want more information about ways you can earn online, do let us know by commenting.
