Brief History of Arik Air
In 2006, Arik Air took over the former Nigeria Airways facilities in Lagos, which was a few years after its liquidation. They immediately began reconstruction work.
On 14 June of the same year, Arik took delivery of two Bombardier CRJ-900 aircraft to fly domestic routes in Nigeria.
And within the continent of Africa from Summer 2006, two ex-United Boeing 737–300s and 3 50 seater Bombardier CRJ-200 craft.
Later in the same year, the Ministry of Aviation granted Arik Air authorization to fly to Amsterdam and Trinidad and Tobago, London, and Madrid in Europe.
The airline then planned to fly to Houston, Atlanta, and Miami, in the United States and Birmingham in the UK.
On 30 October 2006, they began scheduled passenger flights with four flights flying between Lagos and Abuja. They started flight operations to Calabar in November 2006, and in 2007 operations services began in Benin City. Operation in Enugu started in January 2007.
The following year being 2008, Arik Air got permission to fly to the United States of America from the US Department of Transportation.
