Brief History of Aero Airline
Aero Contractors of Nigeria was formed far back in 1959 (a year before Nigeria’s independence) as wholly owned by Schreiner Airways of the Netherlands (Europe).
The company initially had 40% Nigerian holding in 1973 and subsequently increased to 60% in 1976.
Many years after, in the first month of 2004 Schreiner Airways was acquired by Canadian Helicopter Corporation, which bought 40% holding of Aero contractors.
60%, which is the majority of the share remained within the Ibru family group. Currently, Aero is fully owned by the Ibru family.
The Company kicked up in the early 1960s as an airline charter operator. From this gentle beginning in the 1970s Aero has gone on to provide rotary and fixed-wing services to most of the major oil and gas sectors, as well as related support companies working in Nigeria and the West Africa sub-region.
